Environment Care Mission
Caring for the environment lies at the heart of Double A’s business philosophy and we operate under stringent environmental management policies. Our application of international standards and spearheading of significant environmental campaigns have won us commendations and awards in Thailand and all over the world for corporate social and environmental responsibility.
Farmed Trees Concept
To preserve the natural forests, Double A conducted extensive research into the best tree for its paper and for planting in Thailand. Our research resulted in the development of a fast-growing tree that could be easily grown in the country. However, we went a step further by developing a planting concept that would also help preserve the agricultural tradition of our country. By working with farmers to plant our trees in unused spaces around their traditional rice, cassava and tapioca crops, we provide one million farmers with an additional income. The result is that Double A gets an ample supply of raw material from these Farmed Trees without resorting to the practices of many other paper manufacturers who exploit the natural forest.
Own Man-made Reservoir
Double A has its own supply of water. We constructed our own reservoir in the early 1990s to collect rainfall for use in our mill. Measuring 1,920,000 square meters wide, “Emerald Lake” can hold 36 million cubic meters of water and supplies the company with all of its water needs.
Environmentally Friendly Water Treatment System
Double A uses the bacteria digestion process, a state of the art biological treatment system said to be comparable with Scandinavian standards, to treat contaminated water. The process is as follows:

Foreign material such as wood pieces is removed from the waste water using a golden sieve.

The filtered water is put into a mixing pond to adjust the alkaline content for bacteria operation and pulp precipitation. It is then delivered to an air accumulation pond where the oxygen content is increased. This enables the digestion and exhaustion of all the contaminated substances within the water.

The temperature is adjusted and Urea Phosphate, a special compound which increases the efficiency of bacteria to digest contaminated water, is added.

Lastly, dregs are separated in the sediment tanks to result in clean water with the right BOD and COD level compatible with regulated standard set by the Factory Bureau.

The treated water is stored in a pond and used to water the factory yard. Mini 12 mm centered watering sprinklers have been installed to minimize water consumption and increase cost savings. The recycled water is also sufficient for the needs of all the companies in the industrial zone.
